The 'so what?' factor

I had a pretty routine story today.
Someone vandalized a school last night- set a playground on fire about midnight.
We could have covered in with a :30 voiceover. (the anchor reads the story while
video plays on the screen)

I put together a 2:10 package with one of our talented videographers/editors.
I think it turned out well- offering more than just the facts- and finding some reasons why the viewer would care.
