This is Alaska

Last weekend, John and I went to the Kenai River with my cousins Wayne, Becky and Catherine. It was a great day. Summer in Anchorage is nothing like the Lower 48, though. The temperatures were in the upper 50s. It was also a bit rainy along the way. So, strangely, I was bundled up in a fleece and rain jacket. We really enjoyed the Varner's company.

Notice the color of the water. Also, the last picture is of a bald eagle in the tree. We saw at least three that day. You can pick them out by their white heads.

We also had a nice drive down and back. It's about a two hour trip one way. We came across a fatal car crash that held us up a couple of hours. Sadly, these happen nearly every weekend with the RV'ers.

We spent the rest of the week preparing for the trip to Vegas - which, naturally, we were anticipating greatly.
